Elite Female and Male Success at BDS2

Ragot, Griffiths & Fairclough Podium

The weekend of the 9/10th April saw the second round of the British Downhill Series, held at the, now legendary, Moelfre track in North Wales.

Track conditions were dry and dusty and sunshine blessed the course all weekend. The only hand the weather had to play was strong winds, which caused a few casualties on Saturday practice, on the exposed upper sections.

Both Team GR riders were racing and following their seeding runs Emmeline Ragot was leading the field, with Fionn Griffiths close behind in second spot. The dry weather had taken it's toll on the course and it had become rougher than ever. Both riders showed true proffesionalism and both went even faster than in seeding. Ragot claimed the victory, with Griffiths just behind to make it a clean sweep on top of the podium for Team GR. In the Elite mens event, Brendan Fairclough, of the Monster Energy Specialized racing team was representing. The quality of riders was akin to a mini World cup, with three World Champions and three World Cup winners in attendance. In seeding a small slip toward the bottom of the course left Brendan in 11th spot, with it all to do in the final. Fairclough stepped up his game and charged the course, nearly five and a half seconds faster, to grab third place in the honours.
