Fairclough Wins in Vigo

Early Season Victory for Brendan

Renthal sponsored Monster Energy Specialized Racing, Brendan Fairclough took his first win of the season at the unexpectadly wet Vigo Bike Contest.

Many riders ventured out to the event hoping to get some dry course practice, in preperation for the first World Cup in Petermaritzburg, South Africa, in a months time. These plans were washed away as the heavens opened on the second practice day and the course looked far from South African.

Fairclough is a master in the wet and stomped his authority over the course with a win in the final, over half a second clear of his nearest rival. Fairclough is regarded as one of the most technically gifted riders on the circuit, but not one of the strongest on pedal sections. But a winter of hard training in the USA has paid off. The Vigo course had a long pedalling section which Brendan stormed through, proving he is going to be a force to be reckoned with in 2011, whatever the course.
