With Sam Hill still recuperating from his early season shoulder injury and Brendan Fairclough still suffering with lingering ACL knee damage, it was once again up to the Team junior, Troy Brosnan to grab the honours at the 5th round of the World Cup at Windham, USA. Fairclough had a steady qualifyer, coming in 22nd and moved up one place in the final to finish 21st, despite having a wild moment on the upper part of the course and losing his grip on the bars! Brosnan qualified in a superb 4th place and held it together in the finals to come in 8th place, in what was a very close contest.

After some risky prototype testing in the Canadian round of the world cup Fabien Barel was still struggling with his choices and decided that the track in Windham required confidence and precision for a good result, so after failing to get to grips with the track on Thursday he opted for a frame swap just before the qualification on Friday and instantly felt better. Even though it was a little late to expect a good qualification he was happy with his choice and knew he could quickly make up the lost time over the next 2 days of training.
Damien Spagnolo was feeling confident a really good on his bike during the training however he found it difficult to put together a good run in the qualification ending up in 30th place, however it was the Patrick Thome who suffered the greatest disappointment as he slammed his rear wheel onto a rock on one of the big jumps near the start of the track, flatting instantly he could only limp to the line seeing his chances of qualification slip away.
The weather held up and the track dried for race day, it was hot and dusty except for a few sections where the mud had lingered. Damien had a good start but made a big mistake on a high speed off-camber turn and went off line into one of the lasting mud patches, he lost his momentum and with the times so close lots of places in the process.
Fabien was feeling good despite a 10min wait in the start gate due to a track closure, he had a powerful start and kept up a good rhythm to the finish he crossed the line in 1st place and kept his seat until Steve Peat finally dislodged him. The final results were very different to usual with some of the big names like Atherton and Minnaar out of the top ten Fabien was really happy with his run and to be back on his way to the top, with a 10th place finish.
